The Passage
I would probably rank homelessness as my number one concern and fear. We act so indifferently towards the homeless, yet according to recent financial data, 75 percent of Americans don’t have enough savings to cover their bills for six months. Additionally, the average length of time it takes to find a new job is seven months. Do the math, six moths savings + seven moths job search = disaster. Granted these figures are always skewed towards the dramatic, but it does illustrate how precarious of a position most of us are in and how close each and every one of us are to homelessness. A run of bad luck and the unthinkable could happen to anybody. That’s why I was so drawn to this. What an interesting way to get people to look at homelessness.
